Levelland Independent School District is located in Hockley County and is in the heart of an agricultural and oil producing area in the South Plains of Texas. The district includes the city of Levelland, which is located approximately 25 miles west of Lubbock. The city of Levelland is sometimes called a “Texas Treasure” by its residents and is also recognized as a Texas Main Street City.

The District's mission is to engage students in meaningful activities in order for them to become productive citizens. This mission is grounded in the belief of social justice, while utilizing powerful curricula that promotes the most diverse student needs ranging from life skills to the National Merit Scholar.

Students who graduate from Levelland High School have easy access to post-secondary schools within the area. South Plains College in Levelland is home to almost 10,000 students and offers diverse programs in both academic and vocational areas. Tuition rates for residents of Levelland are discounted with the cost being approximately one-third of those at major universities. In nearby Lubbock, Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, and Wayland Baptist University offer a variety of programs to interest the majority of students.

Levelland Independent School District is large enough to meet the needs of its students, while small enough to maintain a climate in which personal relationships are both fostered and maintained. The district is comprised of approximately 2950 students with six campuses: one early childhood center, two elementary schools, one intermediate school, middle school and high school.
