New Business
Craig Blair said that he will haul the victory bell to games. Craig also said that he will haul the Lobo Tunnel, but needs help him put it up and take it down at the games. Please tell all the football dads they will need help with this. At this time, Junior Gonzales will be in charge of putting up the flags at the four home games, or find someone to do it in his place. The Booster Club will be selling spirit shirts at all the Back-To-School nights.
Booster Barn volunteer sheets were passed around to help during the football games. We really need help to work in the Booster Barn during the second half of football games. Please let Kathy, Cristal, Sharon, or Kelli know if you could help.
Coach Gutierrez attended the meeting and gave a Football report. He was very excited about how well the Lobos did. He said that the boys had gotten excited too. He invited everyone to attend the scrimmage in Friona this week and the first football game at Muleshoe on Friday, August 28th at 7:30 pm. Coach G said that he will start showing “highlights” of the games at the Booster meetings on Monday nights, after the Muleshoe game. He is teaching them the philosophy of “what we have to do to win.” All the Football players will be introduced at the next meeting on Monday, August 24th. Coach G also mentioned a tradition that the boys will participate in: each time that they win while away, that they perform a ritual and drive a spike into the ground on that field, to “mark their territory”.
The Booster Club tailgating supper will be held outside Lobo Stadium the night of the Homecoming game on Friday, September 25th. Ticket prices will be decided by the Booster Club at our next meeting. Paul Isaacks and FE Shaheen are working on getting commitments from cooking teams. We will have a trophy for the winning cookoff team.
Kathy McDonald explained that the Boosters have developed a set of By-Laws for the members. She explained that these By-Laws can later be amended by the membership if needed. She allowed time for members to read the minutes. A motion was made by Mike Stafford and seconded by Jackie Shaheen to adopt the By-Laws on this date. The motion carried and the By-Laws were adopted.
Kathy McDonald reminded members of the meeting next Monday night, when the football players will be introduced to the Booster Club. It will be held in Commons at 6:00 pm. Please bring parents with you that are interested in joining the Booster Club.
Meeting was adjourned and GO LOBOS and LOBOETTES!
