Technology in the Classroom
Levelland ISD strives to provide every teacher and student with an array of technology tools that promotes learning and instruction, and increases the efficiency of communication and data management.

Every classroom should have at least one XP worthy computer. Every teacher should have access to a digital projector. To see the equipment assigned to your room, access W:/09-10/Technology/CampusTechnology.xls. Many classrooms also have a colored printer. In addition, all campuses have the option of printing to the copier in the workroom from the classroom.

Although many hardware tools are not available in each classroom, they are available at each campus or in the district. This includes items such as digital cameras and scanners. Student response systems, such as CPS, may be available upon request.

The following procedures have been implemented to protect the Network and your files.
1. Files saved in My Documents are saved to your H: on the Network.
2. Very few users in the District have admin rights.
3. Virus protection software is installed on all District computers.
4. A Windows Updates server has been implemented to ensure your computer is being updated with minimal bandwidth usage.
Every networked employee in the district should have the following:

1. Network login (usually first initial and last name)

2. Network password (at least six characters – with at least 3 of the following 4: upper case, lower case, numbers or characters)

        2. L:Shared \Faculty allows all staff to save, access or change any file.
        3. L:Shared \Schoolwide allows all staff to save, access or change any file.

The following links may be particularly helpful to you.

Under the calendar, All LISD Events include any event that involves people outside the campus.
Notice the color key at the top of the calendar.

Schools - Every school maintains a website. An individual website is available to any teacher or school related organization. Please contact the campus webmaster or submit a helpdesk ticket to request a website. For more information, see the section below titled Teacher Web Pages

Information that is applicable to every campus is posted under School Information.

Instruction only has two links, Internet Resources and Connections.
Internet Resources provides easy access to resources that are available 24/7.
Connections is a separate website that was intended to provide information related to curriculum. This site will either be enhanced or removed depending on additional tools that may become available for more effective delivery of instructional information.

The links under Staff are specifically designed for you. Be sure and check out Eduphoria, Internet Resources and the Staff Directory. This year, Wellness information will be delivered primarily through the website. This is an award winning program in which you will want to participate.

Features include:
1. Basic webpage allows for a variety of templates to be used on a single page.
2. Files can be upload as PDF's or in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
3. Graphics uploaded as a .jpg can be easily resized to fit the page.
4. Forms utilize single & multi-line text boxes, dropdown menus, check boxes and/or radio buttons.

The District Blog - OurLevellandSchools.net
The blog allows students and staff with a login to submit a post for review. Once approved by a blog editor, the post is added to the site. Student participation is strongly encouraged. Training will be offered at each campus.

Testing

STAR testing is used to determine reading level in first through sixth grade. Kindergarten through third grade uses TPRI with PDA’s to assess reading levels. Benchmark tests for many TAKS tested subjects are given via scansheets every six weeks. Keys are entered into Eduphoria-Aware. Teachers can print and scan their own tests. Results are disaggregated by campus, teacher, class and student.
Student e-mail

High School students have access to e-mail through Gaggle. Once a student’s account is created, it will remain active throughout their high school career. Please contact Debra Burnett, the LHS librarian, for assistance in initially creating student accounts. Currently there is not an e-mail option for other students within the district, however should the need arise contact Louise Pendleton.
Connections

Connections is a place on the website to locate information concerning resources, programs and various learning opportunities.
